Best Horror Movies for Halloween 2024

This Halloween we all want to gather with our friends and family, dress up, have fun and of course watch some good scary movies, so here is a list of the best horror movies for this Halloween: 
 If you are looking for something brand new, exciting and scary:

1. BeetleJuice (2024) Synopsis: Three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River after an unexpected family tragedy. Still haunted by Beetlejuice, Lydia’s life soon gets turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter discovers a mysterious portal to the afterlife. When someone says Beetlejuice’s name three times, the mischievous demon gleefully returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem. The newest hit in horror movies for this year, a horror/ comedy of 1 hour and 44 minutes from one of the best movie directors of all time: Tim Burton.

2. Smile 2 (2024) Synopsis: About to embark on a new world tour, global pop sensation Skye Riley (Naomi Scott) begins experiencing increasingly terrifying and inexplicable events. Overwhelmed by the escalating horrors and the pressures of fame, Skye is forced to face her dark past to regain control of her life before it spirals out of control. This, 2h and 17 minutes horror/mystery film with an R rating is the second movie of the franchise “Smile” (2018). if you are looking for something really scary, this is the movie for you. Where to watch it: It is available in AMC theaters, here in Methuen. 


3. A Quiet Place: Day One (2024) Synopsis: Sam, a pessimistic, terminally ill cancer patient, lives at a hospice outside New York City with her cat, Frodo. Reuben, a nurse, convinces a reluctant Sam to join a group outing to a marionette show in Manhattan. While in the city, the group notices meteor-like objects falling from the sky. Shortly afterwards, creatures attack the gathered crowd and passersby. 1h and 39m horror/Sci-Fi film with a PG 13 rating and in addition stars the one and only Lupita Nyong’o. Perfect movie to watch with friends. 


4. Late Night With the Devil (2023) Synopsis: A live television broadcast in 1977 goes horribly wrong, unleashing evil into the nation’s living rooms. 1h and 33 minutes horror/found footage film with a R rating. This movie draws inspiration from real aspects of 1970 pop culture.

5. Alien: Romulus (2024) Synopsis: A group of young colonizers fight for survival on a derelict space station against the universe’s most terrifying life form. 1h and 59m horror/sci-fi film with an R rating. This film being the 8th sequel of the franchise “Alien” that has been produced since 1979, one of the best Horror/Sci-Fi sagas. In my personal opinion, is a really interesting and exciting saga and this movie totally fits in that category.

8. The Exorcist (1973) Synopsis: A mother seeks help from two Catholic priests to free her young daughter from demonic possession in this 1973 supernatural horror film. 2h and 12m Horror/Mystery film with a R rating. The film is based on the 1949 exorcism of a 13-year-old boy and was a commercial success. 


9. Hocus Pocus (1993) Synopsis:A teenage boy accidentally resurrects a trio of witches in Salem, Massachusetts on Halloween night. He must then team up with his crush, his sister, a talking cat, and a centuries-old zombie to stop the witches from taking over the town. 1h and 36m Family/comedy halloween themed film with a PG rating. 


10. The Conjuring Saga (2013) The Conjuring Universe is an American horror franchise and shared universe centered on a series of supernatural horror films. The films present a dramatization of the supposed real-life adventures of Ed and Lorraine Warren, paranormal investigators and authors associated with prominent yet controversial cases of haunting. 
Available on Hulu, Disney + and ESPN+.
