Editor-In-Chief: Salma Boulal

Salma Boulal is a junior at Methuen High School and she is the Editor-in-Chief for the Blue and White. She became a part of the Blue and White staff during her freshman year. Salma is also involved in Mock Trial, NHS, BIPOC Club, and the Multicultural Club. The Blue and White allows her to pursue her passion for writing. Salma hopes to major in political science in the future on a pre-law track. Her favorite subject is history and her favorite teacher is Ms. Nunes.

Digital Media Editor: Crystal Castro

Crystal Castro is a ninth grade student and this is her first year as a Blue and White staff member. She hasn’t written any articles yet but if she were to, she would enjoy writing in arts and entertainment. She joined the Blue and White because she is passionate about getting involved in the school community. Crystal’s favorite thing about the Blue and White is creative liberty and the opportunity to learn about certain aspects of Methuen High through reading peers’ articles. Her favorite subject is English and her favorite teachers are Mr. Bellistri and Dr. Kahn.

Feature Editor: Allison Kelly

Allison Kelly is a senior at Methuen High School. She is the Feature Editor for the paper. Alongside Alexsa, she took journalism in her sophomore year and joined the Blue & White. She works at Perfecto’s Caffe in North Andover. Allison plans to major in biomedical engineering and hopes to attend the University of Lowell. She found a hidden passion for writing articles which led her to joining the club. She enjoys interviewing her friends and teachers. Her favorite teachers are Ms. Brooks and Ms. Garlick.

Sports Editor: Alexsa Carreiro

Alexsa Carreiro is a senior at Methuen High School. She is our Sports Editor for the paper. She took journalism in her sophomore year and joined the Blue & White that same year. She plays lacrosse for the school team. She works at Atkinson Country Club in Atkinson,NH. Her favorite subject in school is science. Alexsa wants to be a pediatric nurse practitioner when she is older. Her favorite teacher is Ms. Brooks. Her favorite type of articles to write are the sports articles.

Arts and Entertainment Editor: Lauren Schena

Lauren Schena is a Methuen High School senior. Lauren participates in numerous clubs outside of the paper including SADD, Student Council, National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society and the Relay for Life Leadership Committee. Lauren holds the role of President in Student Council and Historian in National Honor Society. Currently, Lauren is a baker at Crumbl Cookies, but in the future she hopes to attend a four-year university and study broadcast journalism.

Staff Advisor: Mr. John McKenna

Mr. McKenna is in his eighth year of teaching English at Methuen High School. This is his fourth year as the Blue & White’s faculty advisor.

Mr. McKenna majored in communications as an undergraduate at Quinnipiac University, with a concentration in broadcast journalism. He moved on to receive his Master’s in teaching from Northeastern University in 2015. With this background in communications and English, he was thrilled to take on the role of Journalism teacher at MHS in 2016.

This website, along with the physical newspaper, is student-led and designed, with Mr. McKenna serving as an editor and advisor.
